NEW FOR 2026!
Effective for the Fall 2026 season, our governing organizations are moving to an August 1 - July 31 (School Year) cycle for all age groups, replacing the previous calendar year (Birth Year) system.
Team Placement
The Rosemont Soccer Club (RSC) assigns players to teams to allow players to enjoy applying their soccer skills in an organized environment and to ensure fairness and equality across all teams. RSC policies follow the guidelines established by the River City Youth Soccer League (RCYSL) for assigning players to teams.
Beginning with the Fall 2026 season, age groups are determined using the August 1 – July 31 school-year age cycle, replacing the previous calendar birth-year system. Players are placed into the appropriate age group based on their birthdate within this school-year cycle.
Teams are formed by the following criteria:
1. New and returning players of the appropriate age group who register by the May 31 registration deadline;
2. Requests made through a completed and on-time registration application when the request aligns with the new school-year age grouping structure;
3. Adjustments made as needed to balance the number of players on each team within the age group, as determined by the League.
For purposes of team formation, “age pure” refers to players being placed within their designated school-year age group (August 1 – July 31 cycle) without mixing age groups unless an approved play-up request has been granted.
All returning players (those who played on a team the previous season and register by the Priority Registration deadline of May 31) will retain their place on their prior season’s team whenever possible, provided the player still falls within the same age group under the new school-year age cycle.
Play Up Policy
Players will be registered into their default age group based on the August 1 – July 31 school-year age cycle. If you would like your child/player to be considered to play above their default age group, please review the following information.

Please note: Agreement to the Play Up Request during online registration does not guarantee placement in an older age group. Play-up requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis; however, they are rarely approved in order to maintain competitive balance, player safety, and appropriate player development.
● I am formally requesting my child/player to play up to an older age group than their default age group determined by the school-year age cycle.
● I understand that if this request is approved, my child will be competing against players who may be older and at a different stage of physical and developmental maturity.
● I recognize that if approved, my child may experience reduced playing time or a more challenging level of competition.
● I accept the risks associated with playing in an older age group and give permission for my child/player to participate if the request is approved.
● I understand that play-up requests will be evaluated based on team space availability, roster balance, player ages within the team, the needs of the club, and the justification for the request.
● I understand that this request must be reviewed and approved by the appropriate club representatives, and I will be notified if the request is approved or denied. If denied, a reason will be provided.
● I understand that if approved, the play-up placement applies only to the current season and will not automatically carry forward to future seasons.
● I understand that once my child/player is placed on a team roster, this request cannot be withdrawn.
Refunds
Standard registration fees will be refunded based on the following schedule:
● Requests made before June 1 - Full refund (subject to a $10 processing fee)
● Requests made June 1 - July 31, 50% refund (minus $10 processing fee and late fee paid)
● Requests made on or after August, 1 - No refund, no exceptions.
Please be aware that not getting the practice days, team, coach, or teammates you requested does not entitle you to a full refund after June 1st. The above refund schedule applies to any player who we are able to place on a team. Any player who we are not able to place on a team will automatically receive a full refund.
All refunds will be applied to the card used to pay for registration.
